Behind the Name

A Disclaimer?!

As I mentioned before, I’ve been described as ‘always roaming’.  Which is definitely fair.  When I’m not working or busy with everyday life, I am always keen to be exploring somewhere new. Be it a bar, café, beach, woodland walk, National Park, wildlife reserve… I’m always inspired and refreshed by somewhere new and exciting.

I love that feeling of discovering somewhere, even if it’s not new to the rest of the world, I like the feeling of being some place for the very first time.  Suddenly the world is massive again and those trivial issues are put into perspective. As summed up nicely by Gustave Flaubert “travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”

Roaming is of course synonymous with moving about ‘aimlessly’ and ‘without any clear direction.’ I do find sometimes picking up and going somewhere and just enjoying the outdoors without over-planning is underrated. Often, it’s good to just to get out and about in the countryside or along the coast and not be tied down to specific plans.  It’s clichéd, but everyone knows that sometimes it’s the places you stop off along the way to your main destination which are the most memorable.

However, most trips do of course require a bit of decent planning (or a lot of planning in many cases)!  In order to meet budget and time constraints, planning a decent trip can take a lot of research and consideration. For any longer trips I can spend weeks planning out routes and details. I hope some of my posts may help with this.

I also don’t pretend it’s sensible to go out without a decent map/tide times/emergency information/bear spray/whatever you might need to keep safe! Again, I hope some of my tips and tales of where I have got it right (and wrong!) are useful.
